Ron,

The copper and iron ranges of Michigan are loaded with ruins, old grades, etc just ripe for exploration. The last time I was in and around the old roundhouse and water tank area of the Q&TL RR there were still tracks intac with 4 and 5 inch maple trees growing through them. Have spent several summer trips exploring the grades and mines.

It is very comparable to mining districts in the west all tucked away on the shores of Lake Superior. This web site is an outstanding compliation of what's to see in Dah UP!
