Clean SVRy engines

During the SVRR safety weekend this past Saturday, it was mentioned that the Sumpter Valley RR takes good care of #3 and #19 and the engines can be said to be cleaner than most. Having some renewed enthusiasm to scan a little more of the archive SVRy materials from Eastern Oregon University today, I came across this page in the September 1915 Engine Shop Distribution stating that Mr. Walters spent 12 hours a day, 7 days a week cleaning engines at $2.75 an hour. I guess it's just natural!
