The issue in my mind has nothing to do with opening. It really has to do with how well the season is likely to go long term in terms of crews, engines, and maintenance. A LOT of extra trains are being advertised. This takes crews (and energy). September and October will be a zoo, and I wonder if the people can keep up with what is being asked of them. And then overarching all that is the ridership/revenue outlook given the paranoia about gas prices, which of course is unanswerable. Like I said, I'm a worry wort.
Not trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. Mainly I'm frustrated that the Friends ignore issues like this so completely. I chuckled when I read Tim Tennant's post saying that work session S1 was cancelled....not a word about why.
Speaking of opening, the one thing that is being really well covered and is very interesting is Soni's plowing of the railroad. The pictures that Jay has provided links to are incredibly interesting. Soni is a wonder worker, or is it miracle maker. But whether it is enough to get the whole line open, I have no idea.
