487 not to run again?

I noticed over on the Goat that they are reporting a rumor that 487 has such serious firebox problems that it may never steam again. Further, the 483 will likely go into the shop next and pick up the good parts from the 487. Does anyone here know anything about this "rumor". I hope it is not true about 487.
