When I was young (very young!), the price of gas varied depending on how far you were from the refineries. At home in Eastern Oregon, as I recall it was in the +/- $.20/gal range. As we drove through Texas near refineries, the price was in the low $.10/gal range.

While I was in college in the late '60s there were those who carried their K&E and Picker rules in a leather pouch on their belt. I always found it too uncomfortable. After I graduated, Engineers at work replaced their rules with hp calculators in a leather pouch on the belt. More recently, young and old carried their cell phones on their belts. It seems newer technologies gravitate to the belt at least until it becomes old technology and gets replaced by something newer. Recently it has been a CD player, I do not know what it is now.

I still have my hp 45. Tektronix payed 1/2 of the cost to purchase these calculators for Engineers. My share was still $300 as I recall. I still prefer the Reverse Polish of the hp calculators. No one in the family borrows my hp 15c calculator because they find Reverse Polish too confusing.
