Keep the pictures coming. The pictures, along with the posts regarding winter railroading in 1933, give us a living example how the narrow gauge operated.
The engineer on the 476 appears to have been Roy Buchannan. If I guessed wrong please correct me. Andy Payne said Buchannan had a hunched over, downward looking look. He was number 2 in Durango at the time and held the Silverton run when in ran every day.
Jack Diekman was senior engineer, still pulling the throttle even though he was 75-years old.
The picture of the 646 must have been taken during the first half of 1957. Andy Payne said its last trip was about a month before he hired out. Andy's sneiority date was August, 1957.
