I am not sure about position or reasons for the position of various RRs, but I can say that the 4th of July night train from silverton to Durango was a beauty to behold. The way the headlight lit the canyon and the high line was breath taking. Added to it the firebox light and the markers lights on the end of the train.

To you old rail hands this is hold hat, but to a person that has not had to many night rides behind steam, the other biggy was in the early seventies behind 2102 from Hagerstown to Baltimore MD, I really enjoyed it.
