That spur was in place by late 1958. I have a picture taken from the top of Pope's Bluff in November, 1958 which shows the curved fill where the spur swung west along the north side of Douglas Creek. I grew up on a place at the northwest corner of what is now the Garden of the Gods Road and I-25 interchange, and remember often crossing the spur on horseback while I was still in high school. I graduated in 1960. The spur was put in place as far as Chestnut St. (including the run-around) long before I-25 was completed. It was later extended across Chestnut St. as NDH said in his post. -- Ed
