NNG - Colorado Springs

This is not narrow gauge, but it is Colorado & kinda DRGW......

I work near 30th & Centennial in the Springs. I notice that there is a track that branches off of the former D&RGW main line and crosses under I-25 just south of Garden of the Gods road. On the south side of GOG road, down in the ditch is a what looks like a short runaround track with the switchstands still at each end. The tracks end before Chestnut street, but appear to have gone further west & north (looks like the former ROW is literally buried by development.) The tracks appear to have been dormant for a long time. Does anyone know the history of this spur? How far did it go? Why are the tracks still there? Did it service coal mines in the Rockrimmon area?
