One final comparison before I bore all of you. This time we are comparing a negative scan on the film scanner vs the same negative on the flatbed scanner. This is the same image as the dust removal comparison. I have cropped a small portion of the image so that I can post at maximum resolution. The film scanner is at 4000 DPI and the flatbed maxes out at 3200. What I noticed most in compering these two is that the caps on the staybolts seem out of focus in the flatbed scan. They just look crisper too me in the scan from the film scanner.
Take a look at the top nut on that bracket above the running board. In the flatbed scan you can barely make out the inner circle of the nut. It stands out pretty well in the scan from the film scanner. Maybe not a fair comparison due to the resolution difference in the two scans. I might try shifting the film scanner down to a resolution that is achievable on the flatbed for a comparison that would be more fair.
