Here is a view of the Km 648 junction west of Ing. Jacobacci. The Esquel line was orginally started at this point, before the wide gauge mainline to Barilochi was constructed. Today the mainline is former General Roca system. It operates from Buenos Aires to Bariloche. However only the local Rio Negro Provinence uses the line from Viedma to Bariloche over the broad gauge 5ft. 5 in. gauge line. This is operated with both a frieght concession and passenger operator called Tren Patagonico.

The junction is unmanned and has several large semaphores that are not used. Nearby is a graveyard of nearly 50 or more frieght cars parked along the narrow gauge line. Also is a large collection of bridge and turntable parts from other closed narrow gauge lines. All left out in the Patagonian countryside to be stolen by scavengers getting firewood.
