I did a little checking on stream flow data for Clear Creek at Golden. The water in Clear Creek is currently running at 52 cubic feet per second even without the train running. The water consumption for the Georgetown Loop Railroad runs .02 cubic feet per second (based on 12,000 gallons per day). At the current flow rate of the creek that comes to only 1/2600 or .04% of the water in the creek. Like a .04% change in the flow rate of Clear Creek is going to make the difference in a kayaker being able to float his boat down the creek. The historic maximum flow in Clear Creek in the last 10 years was 2500 cubic feet per second which is near flood stage and only slightly more than twice the water claimed to be needed by the City of Golden to run the park.
