While the star of the recent SP narrow gauge reunion at Laws the the SP18, also notable was that SP 401 an 1880 product of Carter Brothers was also in the train, perhaps the first time it has been used in over 50 years. The 401 was built as a combine with a clerestory roof and used that way as a caboose for many years, but sometime in the 1950's it acquired the current flat roof. I cannot find a good history of the 401 and wonder if anyone here can point me to a good source. Here is a picture of the 401 pretending to be leaving Laws for either Owenyo or Keeler.
