Silverton Railroad - Now and Then, location 3

This year I tried getting a little further upgrade at Chattanooga to attempt this now and then. I had to hike up and around one of the rock slides to get to this location. I really needed to be further upgrade which would have required tackling another slide. I was running out of light and time so I settled for this spot. The now shot was on July 3, 2015 and the then shot is listed as being prior to 1901 from the Thomas M. McKee album. The shot is available from DPL at Chattanooga.




This view heading upgrade gives you a feel for how bad the slides are along the upper leg of the loop. Every once in a while there is a little shelf where the grade once was above the highway. One day I would like to get out to the curve to the north but it is a long ways off!
