the 2'6" stuff in patagonia was equipped with newly built locos (henschel and baldwin) with passenger and freight stock newly built in belgium, along with enough rail to last them a few centuries (the plan was a little ambitious!).

The correntino railway in northern argentina was 60cm/2' gauge and was built with ex War Department Light Railways stock post WW1.
