I finally watched Missouri Breaks about a year ago. It was the only movie filmed on the C&TS during my years there that I hadn't seen, so I was curious about it. I thought it was kind of interesting to see a young Jack, with Brando, and in a western. Did Nicholson do many westerns?
RE Chama Drive-in: will never forget the first time I went there, shortly after we arrived in Chama in 1973. It was a double bill: Soldier Blue and Little Big Man. During the intermission I went to the concession stand and realized that I was the only "paleface" in there -- everyone else seemed to be from Dulce. Being new in that environment at that time I wasn't sure if that was a good thing, given the subject matter of the movies, so I went quietly back to my car and locked the doors. In subsequent years my wife and I both had the opportunity to teach in Dulce (to supplement our meager C&TS incomes) and made many good friends there.
