Wondering if anyone can give some insight into the C&TS ballast operation west of Osier i.e. is this a private contractor, how much material has been quarried, ongoing requirements etc. Inquiring minds need to know
Trackside quarry a few hundred yards west of Osier. This provides C&TS with its grey stone ballast, very different from earlier times. Hart Corbett photo shot from train, 8/25/2011.
Diesel powered 3 hopper train that moves crushed ballast from trackside quarry west of Osier to wherever ballast is needed. Train is on old coaling stub spur behind the old Osier depot. Two tourist trains just had arrived so loaded ballast train moved here (no siding exists at ballast quarry). 8/25/2011. Hart Corbett photo.
