Many of you may know Bruce Anderson. Among his other activities here in Durango, he was instrumental in the D&S Photo trains, helping to organize and run them. I knew Bruce, first from his involvement with the railroad and later I knew him from his work in charities and the radio towers on Smelter. He is a good friend to everyone. (But, how many knew his last name? Not me.)
Bruce had a massive stroke on Sept 21. He is essentially paralyzed on his left side and his ability to swallow is impaired. Currently he is in Denver. Cards or letters of encouragement should go to:
Bruce Plasse, c/o MSICU, St. Anthony's Hospital, 11600 W. 2nd Place, Lakewood, CO 80228. Messages can also be left at www.carepages.com/carepages/TheNotebook/updates/3160448
His medical expenses will be enormous, as you might guess. He was two weeks in Intensive Care and now is in a private room. It is hoped that money can be raised to help him and to be able to bring him back to Durango. Al Harper is donating the full proceeds of the Nov. 18 running of the Polar Express. Donations can be made to; Bruce Anderson Plasse, c/o any office of the Bank of Colorado. People who can help in any way should e-mail to
