Hi, Ed -
Do you mean as in
"Alferd Packer took an ax, gave his companions forty wacks.
When he saw what he had one, he ate the bodies - every one."? *
IIRC, this (in)famous episode of Colorado History took place near Lake City, not Georgianatown. But the victims were all from nearby Silver Plume, and their absence from the Loyal Opposition allowed the renaming of the town from 'Ostrich Plume' during the winter of 1893. (See [
ngdiscussion.net].)
Or, to hijack yet another thread (but in original post's challenging spirit), may I ask whether the following is a more-or-less accurate quote (attributed to the judge at Alferd's trial for cannibalism), and if so / if not, can some irrefutable source be cited?
"They was seven Dimmycrats in Hinsdale County, and yo' et five of 'em!
Stan' up, you man-eatin' son-of-a-bitch an' take yor sentence ... "
- El Curmudgeono Loco
p.s. I was pleased to note the correct spelling of Alf
erd Packer's name.
You are a credit to your heritage - 'Doc' Stabler and CC!
pps. Was it the snack bar in the student union at UC, CSU or CSC that had "PackerBurgers" on the menu?
Bonus Point: Did Hannibal Lecter earn his MD or his PhD there?
* "Carrie Nation took an axe, and gave the whiskey forty wacks.
To underscore what she had done, she gave the bourbon forty-one."
