Some time ago a friend put some estate items on e-bay, including an old switch key from, I believe, the S.P.& S. A short time later he got a call from a BNSF special agent. It seems the key was still active! This key was looked over by some fairly knowlegable people, and they had no idea. The agent said this happens all of the time, and a large part of his job was watching the internet. The key was returned to BNSF and nothing more was said.
So don't be too critical of e-bay, they are trying to stay out of trouble just like the rest of us.
