On 4449 in the AFT days, we used a mixture of ammonia and dishwashing soap (I don't remember the brand) when cleaning the jacket & skirts, etc. In Sparks (Reno), "I can't believe I scrubbed the whole thing" ... all by myself, except that U.P. Joe Passentino showed up on the third day* and helped with the tender. After a scrubbing, we wiped all the Imron surfaces with a very light coat of diseasel oil to give her a bit of a shine.
Nowadays, diseasel oil is a no-no, but Lemon Pledge works great for the final rinse and touch-up ...
