If its anything like the K-37's pulling test runs on the west slope of Marshall Pass you'll have a great steamer!!! The 491 and 493 have been running great, were about to officially open line for tourist's in the next few weeks, by May we hope to have the line between Sargents and Gunnison ready. The 268 and 271 have been fired and had the kinks worked out. Right now there limited to running the 10 miles to Almont and back. Hopefully by Setember the line to Crested Butte will be complete and we can start our ski train service to the resort in November. As of today the 498 ran light just north Gunnison with a caboose on its break in run. There was a minor set back in Almont when the lead truck on the tender derailed, it was quickly rerailed and some adjustments made. The 498 run's like a Cadillac--smooth and strong. Thanks to the CRRM for loaning passenger equipment, the Shavano will run from Gunnison to Marshall Pass starting May 12. The loco's will be turned on the new 80' turntable and return to Gunnison at 6:30 pm daily until October. A triple header is in the planning stages to be run in July in conjunction with Cattlemens Day's rodeo, the train will re-create a stock movement. I will post more with photo's.
