D&RGW Tender & Cab Lettering

October 16, 2007 01:02AM
When was the transition made between DENVER & RIO GRANDE WESTERN and Rio Grande on the tenders..?

From studying photos it seems to have been in 1941 or so. Was there an exact time frame?
Is there any documentation when each loco was repainted?

It seems also that with Rio Grande came the larger cab numbers. Does anyone have the exact company specs for the size of the cab numbers before and after, and the exact sizes of the DENVER & RIO GRANDE WESTERN?

How about painting and lettering diagrams?

Re: all the above, I'm particularly interested in the K-36 engines.

Thanks.
SG.
