I am glad that the photos turned out and others could enjoy them as well, the only thing better is the video with sound but that will have to wait until I can figure out how to edit and post it
The Model T was just one of the nice "details" that TUT included and together with the circa 1930's lettering of the equipment by the D&S/ DRHS made this trip one of the best in my book. Thinking about it now I wonder if an Elk Park turn out of Silverton would be a viable option for the D&S/ DRHS if the #315 were to be located in Silverton for part of the season. Run a morning and/or afternoon turn before or after the regular trains arrive/depart Silverton to extend the tourist day for Silverton merchants... on "light" days pull out the Casey Jones motor car...and they even have an engine house available that with the addition of some connecting trackage could be very nice indeed...but as I previously stated the DRHS is exploring all the options for #315 storage so we just need to let them work it out. Now if the D&S would consider restoring combine #212 to its circa 1930's appearance we could have the return of the Silverton mixed....
I am not sure of the history of the little Silverton depot as I think it was moved to this location as a larger structure shows in early photos. The Silverton RR depot also exists behind the D&S depot which is shown in the second photo. The possibility of extending track up the old Silverton Northern grade also still exists thanks to the foresight of Fritz Klinke and others in Silverton. All it takes is money and a plan...
