John, as always a very nice shot. Moody and "atmospheric" indeed. It puts you there, as a good photo will. I never tire of seeing good work like this.

One of the interesting aspects of switching to digital is the current crop of slides films are outstanding.
This has to be one of the great ironies of the digital photography revolution. We've never before had such a wealth of outstanding color films from which to choose. And not just E6 "slide" films. C-41 "print" films such as Kodak's new versions of Portra, Fuji's excellent all-around Reala 100 and Kodak's 400UC for higher speeds are all exceptional. Of course, you won't find any of these at the corner grocery or drug store.

The weakness of shooting slides is the scanning process.
And that, sir, is a dramatic understatement. Well-scanned top-quality film still rivals top of the line digital cameras like the Canon 1Ds Mk II (a $7000 device), but only if it's meticulously scanned and processed by an experienced operator using top-quality equipment which is, itself, rather pricey.
For the average enthusiast, it's just far, far easier to get better results with good digital equipment, and for the working professional, where time is money, it's simply faster. But I can't help but feel a bit sad about that, given the aforementioned quality in today's films.
In any case, sure glad you're taking the time and going through the pain of getting your film stuff into the digital domain for all of us to see.
