After the WP&YR re-acquired the #69, the railroad sent the locomotive to an outside contractor for rebuilding. After one season, for whatever reasons -- they have been hashed around here a few months ago -- the White Pass has chosen to tear down #69 and do additional work.
The White Pass is using both the GE slope-noses and the ALCo road switchers. The GE's were built with ALCo prime movers. This year the White Pass has been working on returning the last of the road switchers, that had been sold to Columbia and then after several years repurchased, back to service.
For information about the White Pass -- past and present and even modeling -- there is a Yahoo email group.
