Spencer is working on a history of the line, but it is not clear that he is inclined to include much "color commentary". The writings of Keller, Coker and Knoob tend to be in a very personal "storytelling" style. They may be factual or they may not (some of the facts are in dispute), but they convey the perception of those individuals and provide insights that are useful in understanding the facts. I'd like to see Spencer do both, and integrate the whole thing. But if he chooses not to (nothing wrong with that, it's a matter of style), then a seperate effort needs to be made to preserve the "color".
