As someone in the preservation field who hates to see the competition among some museums, I'm very curious about the relationship between the folks in Independence working on the 18 and the folks in Laws. Is there any cooperation between the groups? Are they related? The folks working on the 18 talk about rebuilding some of the ROW. Is there any chance they could connect up with the Laws Museum and utilize their rolling stock?
I did a survey for someone a while ago about existing SP/Owens Valley area narrow gauge equipment. They could put together quite the museum in Owens Valley with a little effort. There seem to be some structures left as well which could be relocated and restored.
