Michael,
Do a google search on the "Missionary Ridge Fire". Back in 2002, that forest fire shut down the railroad. I believe that the railroad lost an incredible amount of money that year. Last week, I was talking to a D&SNG MOW employee who told me that the railroad is
*still* recovering from the fire.
Given what the railroad went though in 2002, and all they have done since then, I can overlook the lack of fresh paint on the K-37. The railroad has been busy ensuring its survival! Since the fire, the D&SNG has acquired some diesel locomotives, improved their fire prevention program, built the Silver Vista, etc.
Also, FYI, the CRRM already has a K37 sitting outside, uncovered.
