Russell Wahmann wrote a book on the UV&P back in 1983.
It was 3 foot gauge and ran between Jerome and Jerome Junction (Chino Valley area) where it connected with the standard gauge SFP&P.
It was constructed in 1894 to haul copper products from the smelter in Jerome and coke, timber, and other needed materials in. It was known as the "crookedest railroad in the world" for it had 186 curves in some 36 miles.
The rails were torn up in 1920 after the smelter was moved to Clarkdale and the standard gauge railroad was built to Drake where it connected with the AT&SF. (now the Verde Canyon Railroad)
The book may be available through the Jerome Historical Society

I don't have their phone number, but I'm sure a quick google search can solve that.
