The 60 cm gage military lines in the USA were spiked to 24 inches, being 3/8" wider. That made no difference for any of the equipment. There was an extensive line at Fort Dix, NJ that was built in 1919 and became the last passenger carrying line in the USA in the end of 1946. The 17 miles were torn up in December, 1946. The "passenger" were army personnel riding to the gun range. Only the Baby Gauge RR might be in the same league but it was a tourist operation by that time. Is there anyone on list which has Fort Dix history and photo to share to help a publication on it? PRR
