Exactly my point, Stuart. Where did painting the cylinder covers green come from? Did someone working for Rio Grande and or the D&S/ C&TS discover green paint on the existing K-28 or other engine cylinder covers at some point in time? Most photos dating from the time period that green was in use are black and white so this is why I would like to see a reference to a particular photo of a narrow gauge D&RGW engine that would support painting the cylinders green.
