You're undoubtedly right. I was calculating from 1960 when 473 still had a straight stack as Durango switcher.
This now leads me to a further demonstration of my ignorance and/or poor memory. I have a vague recollection of the Bumblebee paint scheme and Grande Gold treatment of ng. passengers cars starting with some display equipment at the 1949 Chicago Railroad Fair, the 268 and some passenger cars? Then some equipment was similarly painted for the movie Ticket to Tomahawk. Is the movie what led to the 473 getting a bumblebee paint job? After that some of the Gold cars started showing up on the Silverton. The Silverton was still an occasional mixed in 1950. When did it become the regular daily long train of all gold cars that we see today, and how quickly did the transition take place. I know it was well before 1960 when I first saw it.
Enlightenment greatly appreciated.
