Right you are Mike.
Wood frieght cars, including cabooses and people hauling box cars work out to about 17 adjusted tons - including people on the passenger cars. An actual empty boxcar is about 15 tons. We used to store stuff in boxcars (some rather heavy stuff) and when I figured tonnage, I used "17" as a nice average. Steel cars and long reefers work out to 20 tons. Loaded passenger cars are 28 tons for the "east end cars" and 30 tons for the "west end cars".(the Antonito cars wiegh less)
A few years back before we converted a coach to a snack car/coach, and we carried the converted box car snack car and wood gon, max tonnage was 6 coaches, snack car, one box car coach (or charter caboose) and a wood gon = 231 tons.
With the removal of the box car/snack car and adding the steel rider gon, we now have 6 coaches and a gon = 200 tons or you could go with 7 coaches and a gon at 230 tons.
Hope JAC (and Rosella) sell lots of those parlo(u)r car seats. As the extra car added every day will keep the helper crews busy!!

One engine could get 14 empty wood cars up the hill. We used to do 13 box car coaches without too much excitement. I tried 14 with a charter freight a couple of times. It was a real fight, but now that I think about it we probably had a reefer or two plus a couple of steel cars in there to add "excitement". I've heard 2 490's could do 30 empty cars. but take most of the morning to do it. On the other side, I've seen movies of 2 engines struggle with 12 loads of Gramps oil (plus a caboose). Bet THOSE cars were heavy!
