While working on the GLR in 91, for some reason it became necessary to pull all of the cars out of Hall siding. As I remember there were 14- 16 cars stored on the siding, and these cars had not been moved in some time, so were very stiff.
#12 was coupled on and began to pull, First time Ihad ever heard a Shay slip, not once but several times. Ed Dickens finally got some sand under the wheels, one could hear 6 disticive cylinder beats until about 8 cars came over the top, then the sound of the jet engine took over. I have often cursed myself for not having a tape recorder. keith
