I read this in a recent issue of the New Yorker, so it must be true. It really hit home on my previously advanced concept of association.

It goes something like this:

I have my grandfathers axe. It has had two new heads and three new handles, but it is still my grandfathers axe.

I don't mean to make an excuse for tearing out old and replacing it with new every time if the old stuff is good stuff.
