Thanks Steve. Yes the Alder Gulch Shortline runs between the two gold centers of Virginia City and Nevada City, Montana. The roaring metropolis of Central City is strategically located midway on the line. Virginia City was the first capital of the Montana Territories and has quite a history.
The current roster of steam locomotives on the line is a rather short list. One. Number 12. We would love to have more but there weren't many 30 inch gauge steamers built and few remain. We lust over the sugar cane stuff molding away down in Cuba and know of one or two tucked away here and there, but simply maintaining 12 sometimes stretches the State's fun budget. She is sweet to run and kids of all ages love to ride behind her. We're pretty lucky I guess.
