Always remember to include photo captions with images so we don't have to guess.
My guess is that this is the Antonito train returning from Osier toward Antonito. Give away is the parlor car and rider gon on the front, plus the flat-top coaches.
I suspect this is between Osier and Rock Tunnel, maybe just west of that cut---sometimes called Calico Cut I think???
The first time I did any railfaning in Osier was around 1960, with my dad. We chased a doubleheader from Alamosa-Antonito, then he found his way back to Osier. We drove down to the creek, and crossed a bridge and drove up the other side of the mountain away. I have some really bad shots of the train with around 70 cars and a mid-train helper along the ledge between Rock Tunnel and Osier. We were nearly track level but across the valley. I think it was a logging road bag then as I recall a log truck. I was only about 9 then!!!'
Anyway, the engines on the train were 494-495. They stopped at Osier and switched some Bridge and Building cars at the siding. Dad has a few movie clips at the tank as well as a rather washed movie of the ledge I mentioned. Osier still feels like the middle of nowhere!!!
