Yes the CHS is funding the restoration. Uhrich is working to put the locomotive back together to the point that it is a boiler on assembled running gear. From there the grant that the city got from the CHS to do a cosmetic restoration takes over. (this grant was applied for and received before the idea of operating #30 on the loop came about) It is this cosmetic work that the city is currently seeking bids for.
30's tender will stay in Silver Plume until Uhrich completes locomotive 111. When 111's tender is shipped to Silver Plume the same truck will haul 30's tender back and reunite it with the locomotive.
Marlin Uhrich has graciously allowed the city to store #30 and its tender INDOORS at his facility until the city has an appropriate home for it. At this time, the city's plan is to place the locmotive on display near the depot in the soon to be built "transit village" at 30th & pearl in Boulder. The display site will include a roof over the locomotive. Obviuosly the locmotive will be done before the display site is ready, hence the need for indoor storage until the site is ready.
