Thanks for the clarification. Boy they sure did create a lot of variety. Sloans book says that ASF created the truck frames by modifying the Andrews frame pattern (or creating a new one) by adding cast journal boxes and webs to the exsisting design thus creating the new trucks. What I wonder is whether the 4x7 and 5x9 were actually two different casting or whether the journal boxes were modified to take either one. Sloan further indicates that some of the narrow frame cars while on the White Pass were equipped with cast frame trucks. I should remember what the cars in Chama have on them since I went on a trip with Trowbridge early in their career on the C&TS when we even haad a hot box on one of the cars but I don't recall the trucks. I assume they are the old style. Fitting a truck longer than 4 ft would be somewhat of a trick due to the notch in the frame to clear the trucks.
