700 & 800 class drop bottom gons

Were D&RGW 700 & 800 series gons ever regularly used west of Gunninson or seen on the RGS. I have only one photo source which is the Bob Richardson photos in Nov 1951 with K-27 #454 pulling two drop bottom gons of cinders to be used as ballast on the Ouray branch. These cars were heavily used on the fourt div. & Silverton branch; why not on other areas.
