Thanks, PRSL. It is interesting that the C&S engines were photographed on the east leg of Cumbres wye in 1927. What were they doing there? Where were they going? No trace of them were recorded.
A few years back Dave Peterson and I went up the H&H line ouit of La Madera. We were able to match some scenes in Gordon Chappelle's "Logging Along the Rio Grande" book. About six miles up we found a junction, and I found a Jeffery spike! I remember Peterson was mildly miffed he didn't spot it first! We beat a cloud burst out of that canyon-in the nick! A great trip ghost railroading.
