If you peek in there and most of your fire is "gone" the fire was probably too light to begin with, and heavy exhaust took it.
You are probably screwed already and will have to stop, shut off the feedwater, build up the fire again, and go from there. Get the blower on and work carefully, and don't rake green coal under the fire where it will clinker.
