If you are using Adobe Photoshop, you can resize the image and change the resolution. For the web, the image should be 72 dpi. Click on Image, then Image Size. Set the Resolution to 72, set the Resample Image to Bicubic Sharper, then set the width and height. Hard to give exact numbers to use here, but something smaller than what it currently is. Save the file using the Save for Web option. Hope this helps, if not, email me off line.
