Edward Hopper's iconic masterpiece. Evocative of that 3am world. The couple are the center of the painting. The man has a hard edge; maybe he is a little dangerous. The dark circles under the redhead's eyes betray a life which the dawn had been seen a few too many times without a night's sleep. This is excellent American art! Hopper really caught the rhythms, moods and skylines of America between the world wars, and many scenes tell a story with a candid human pose. His influence on modern art is only being realized recently. I love looking at my huge Abrams art book on this artist and his work. It is a look at lost American landscape.
