The RMRR Club was formed in 1938 in Denver when a group of local rail enthusiasts agreed to meet periodically to share stories, take trips and show photographs and films of the Rocky Mountain region railroad activities.
The early founders included men who would become famous writers and film historians. The Club began as the idea of Denver man, Carl Hewett, who enlisted the aid of others including Jackson Thode, Otto Perry, and Dick Kindig. Later men such as Ed Haley, Irv August, John Maxwell, Neil Miller, Mac Poor, Morris Cafky, Ross Grenard, Bob LeMassena, and Jim Ehernberger would join many others, to create an organization that would be known and honored for its books and the photographs taken by its members.
