Mr. anonynous poster,
By actually talking with people involved in the situation, I have been able to verify the following facts (no speculation or rumor) presented below;
1) Folks at the Colorado Historical Society indicate that there is no truth to the rumor that Railstar is "out" as the operator of the Georgetown Loop. The quote a CHS offcial "we have a contract with Railstar, Railstar is the operator of the Georgetown loop Railroad."
2) Accusing Ron Trottier of being bankrupt and skipping town without some facts to back it up seems to cross the line into libel or slander. Of course that would explain the anonimity of your posting. Far from being "nowhere to be found", Mr. Trottier is at his home in New York, where he typicaly spends the winter. Nothing new or different here. I could find no court filings or other documents to back up your accusation of bankruptcy.
3) While it is true that there are no Railstar employees working on the locomotives or cars over the winter (in fact the only Railstar employee on the payroll and in Georgetown presently is the business manager, which again is no different than last year), some work has been performed on the locmotives by outside contractors. (Steve Butler has been working on #9 and the axles for #12 are at the Durango & Silverton). Offcial word is that #9 will be done in May and #12 sometime later in the season.
I would speculate that the lack of activity in Silver Plume may be giving rise to the rumors of Railstar's demise. I would suggest taking a look at the facts presented above and make of them what you will. Of course you will probably find it more entertaining, as well as self serving, to make up your own reality.
