Remember when the weekly airing of Casey Jones was about the only railroad program on TV? Besides that and Trains and Railroad magazines, there was not much other media for stimulation. If you were lucky, the local library might have a few railroad books. Today, we're so bombarded with rail media, it is impossible to see it all, and sadly, the interesting trains of 1957-58 are mostly gone.
Even the old railroaders I knew all watched Casey Jones, as if 16 hours a day on a steam locomotive wasn't enough for them. There was a very short TV series also at that time, titled Union Pacific, which utilized V&T equipment for its scenes. Casey Jones was seen on KLZ, Channel 7 Denver, and Union Pacific was on KBTV, Channel 9.
