Jerry,
Please take this in the good spirit to which it is given. I have to agree with PRSL on this one. I know where you are coming from, as I am working on old films a lot more in the past 7 years, and there simply comes a point where I stop waiting for that one picture I wanted to go with it, or hearing from a source, or researching something, and I say lets get something out the door! Yes, there are times someone will tell me I made a mistake, and I understand that, but at least it is out there for folks to enjoy seeing, and not lost forever. I think it is important for historians to get something out the door so to speak before we croak. I am not putting myself out there as a major historian by any means, but my experiences with vintage train films has told me that one has to sometimes sacrifice perfection for the sake of getting something FINISHED. I have about 4-5 projects like this right now, and one has been stalled in my computer for nearly a year. Meantime nothing else gets done.
So maybe we can prod you along to get SOMETHING out the door. My suggestion would be to go with what you have now, and should you do more research over say the next 5 years, then do a second volumne or simply another snowfighting book. Another idea would be to condense it and do the Narrow Gauge now, which sounds like it might be nearly complete, then do a standard gauge version later.
I know you want to do the best job you can, but as PRSL says we don't want something to happen to you and all that work go to waste either.
Cheers,
Greg Scholl
