Re: Whistle Signal?

Whistle signals would NOT be different with different crews on the same railroad. Safety
requires strict compliance with the rules. On the
Erie-Lackawanna, where I was an engineer, and many other lines, One long and one short means
running against the current of traffic on a multi-track line. Therefore, for example, when approaching a grade crossing against the current of traffic, the signal would be one long, one short, then 2 long, one short and one long.
